Editorial and medical review policy

1. Purpose and scope

This policy applies to patient guides, condition and treatment pages, frequently asked questions, printable materials and all other medical claims published on drfranciscoabellan.com.
The information is for general education. It does not replace a medical record, examination, diagnosis, prescription, informed consent or individual instructions from the responsible professional or healthcare centre. The website is not an emergency channel.

Content is prepared for clarity, balance, prudence, accuracy and scientific support. Guaranteed results, certain cures, unsupported comparisons and testimonials as evidence of effectiveness are avoided.
Educational information is visually separated from appointment calls to action. A commercial call to action does not determine source selection or medical conclusions.
General recommendations are intended mainly for adult patients in Spain. Personal instructions from your healthcare team always take priority over this website.

Clinical review: internal medical review performed by the author. It is not presented as an external or independent review. If another reviewer participates in the future, their name and credentials will only be published after a genuine, authorised review.
The Spanish and English versions must retain the same clinical meaning. Editing, translation or artificial-intelligence tools may support the process, but no medical content is published without human verification by the identified author or reviewer.

Priority is given to laws and health authorities, safety alerts and product information, scientific-society guidelines, systematic reviews and, where needed, primary studies. Commercial or manufacturer sources are not used as the sole support for a therapeutic claim.
Each guide displays its principal consulted sources with the title, responsible organisation and link. Sources are selected by topic and reviewed when content changes.
A linked reference allows readers to check the general basis of a guide; it does not imply that the cited organisation wrote, reviewed or endorsed this website.

The “Last medically reviewed” date represents a conscious check of accuracy and completeness; it is not updated automatically by design changes, builds or deployments.
General content is reviewed at least annually. Medicines, perioperative or postoperative instructions, emergency information and law-dependent content are reviewed sooner when there is a safety alert, relevant guideline, legal change or possible error.
When a change alters the clinical meaning, the review date and applicable sources are updated. Typographical corrections with no clinical effect may be made without changing the medical date.

No funder, provider, clinic or manufacturer may determine source selection or conclusions. Relationships that could affect a specific topic must be disclosed alongside the relevant content.
Professional or clinical affiliations do not mean that hospitals or clinics wrote, reviewed or endorsed the content unless expressly stated.
Sponsorship, editorial funding or in-kind contributions, if any, will be clearly identified. Source links are not affiliate links.
